Law Society – Board Member
(Feb 2018 to Date)
 

An inaugural member of The Law Society Board, reappointed for a second term of office and invited to Chair of the People & Remuneration Committee September 2020.

Board Member ( Since Feb 2018)

This board is required to provide oversight and governance of the Society's strategy, policy and annual business plan, establishing its equilibrium of scope within a complex and rapidly evolving stakeholder environment and driven by the Legal Services Board's internal governance agenda for approved regulators. The Society is currently delivering a 5-year digital transformation programme (£35m) designed to deliver an improved working environment for staff, value-added membership services and future-proofed, sustainable and independent revenue streams.
 

People & Remuneration Committee (Sep 2020)
This Committee is required to mentor the pace for organisation change while balancing the internal culture and external risks. Additionally, it is required to set the overarching principles and parameters of motivation and remuneration across the Society.

 

 

Welsh Government- Corporate Governance Committee
(Sep 2014 to Aug 2015)

 
Natural Resources Directorate | £438m budget
Covering 5 departments within Welsh Government: Environment, Agriculture, Food and Marine and Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer. The overall purpose is to provide constructive advice, a challenge to the Director General and the Directorate and ensure sound and robust arrangements for corporate governance alongside internal control and risk management.

 

 

Chartered Management Institute (CMI) - Board of Trustees Member
(Dec 2008 to Oct 2014)

 
The CMI is the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. It is the only organisation awarding Chartered Manager status and encompasses a membership community more than 157,000 strong.

CMI Nominations Committee
(2010 to 2012)

This Nominations Committee develops and maintains a formal, rigorous and transparent procedure for making recommendations on selecting members to be put forward for election and appointment to the CMI Board.

Chair of the Regulatory Compliance Committee
(Jul 2011 to Jun 2014)

The Committee monitors the Institute’s areas of risk, and compliance with OfQual’s General Conditions of Recognition and provides oversight and sign-off of OfQual’s annual statements of compliance.

 

 

Chair of the Institute of Consulting
(Sep 2011 to Oct 2014)

 
The Institute of Consulting (IC) is the professional body for consultants and business advisers in the United Kingdom. The Institute of Consulting offers several grades of membership, alongside qualifications, training and awards as well as a range of tools and resources to support its members. The IC also encourages consultancy and leadership development, setting the standards for the profession by way of a code of conduct and a thorough accreditation process which ensures that members of the IC are of the highest standard.

 

 

Non-Executive Director – NHS Trust – Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital (2008/2009)
 
This hospital provides specialist heart and lung services to the people of Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, North Wales and the Isle

of Man. It has one of the largest critical care units in the U.K. with over 40 beds. It serves an adult population of over 2.8 million

and operates with a £100m budget.
